Fun Things To Do In Red Deer

Red Deer, Alberta is named after the river that flows through the city and was proudly dubbed the Cultural Capital of Canada by Canadian Heritage in 2003. Rich with heritage from Canada’s First Nations, Métis and European peoples, Red Deer is also home to prosperous oil, grain and cattle production industries. This city boasts great local shopping and plenty of cool attractions unique to the Central Alberta area.

Our Location

Our hotel is conveniently located close to all major highways, local shopping and Restaurants at Southpointe Commons, and Westerner Park, Central Alberta’s largest convention centre and sports arena. Motel 6 Red Deer is about a 10 minute drive from Red Deer Airport and Red Deer College.

Outdoor Activities

For some fresh air and exercise, head to Kerry Wood Nature Centre and Gaetz Lake Sancutary, about 15 minutes from Motel 6 Red Deer. Featuring 300 acres of green space complete with lakes, bird blinds and observation decks, this is a beautiful place for a stroll.

For a paddle boat experience right here in town, check out Bower Ponds in Great Chief Park, about 10 minutes north of our hotel. You could also take a guided horse-back ride at Heritage Ranch.

Our hotel is located within the new Southpointe Commons area, featuring large retail outlets including Winners, HomeSense, Walmart, Old Navy and more. The area also has other specialty shops and a great selection of restaurants. For indoor shopping, Bower Place is just few minutes up Gaetz Avenue.
